Smeared without honey: mass bee death from the Chinese chemistry continues in Russia

Beekeepers from the central regions of Russia are sounding the alarm over the mass bee death - many apiaries are littered with millions of dead insects. In their opinion, the thing is that local farmers cultivate fields with the use of counterfeit herbicides which have a detrimental effect on the apiaries.

Large-scale disasters are not fully estimated at the moment, but we can already confidently state that the losses are quite large - the bees have been dying for the past week. According to scientists from around the world, such a situation can lead not only to devastating the beekeepers themselves, but also to losing food, the damages from which will be about $ 600 billion.

Eduard Fedosov, general director of anti-counterfeiting company BRANDPOL GROUP LTD, comments on the situation: “Today the chemicals market in Russia is not controlled in practice, and, unfortunately, a huge proportion of counterfeit products is right on the counter. The bulk of counterfeit pesticides comes to us from Asia, in some regions their share reaches 40%. If we take into account that the entire market of plant protection chemicals in Russia is about 1.5 billion US dollars, the share of counterfeit and falsification is about 500 million US dollars. This is serious money. Losses from the use of such "chemicals" are generally difficult to calculate.

Generally, such chemistry products are produced on the basis of cheap Chinese active ingredients. These "compounds" did not pass the required certification testing which allows to assess the long-term natural effects on humans, domestic and wild animals, insects, birds, fish and other plants. Such "chemicals" can cause fetal death in animals and developmental brain delays in humans. Our company is actively engaged in combating counterfeit pesticides. We constantly identify and shut down distribution channels for similar products. Pesticide manufacturers provide active assistance but these measures are not enough. Selling counterfeit pesticides does not even apply to offences of medium gravity. We have had cases of detecting counterfeit pesticides, which were actually poisons, for several hundred million rubles. The entire regions of Russia can be poisoned with such a quantity of unidentified chemicals, and according to the results, only once it was possible to reach the court verdict, and even then the violators received suspended sentences. More often it qualifies as an administrative offence.”

Chemical aerial treatments of the fields, which are toxic and dangerous to the health of people, animals and even fish, are a particular dangerous to both insects and people. Of course, all this is directly related to the bee death - the uncontrolled and improper use of chemicals to protect plants from pests is the main cause of the death of the insects.

In total, we have two factors that affect the bee death: counterfeit products, which are sold under the high-quality pesticide brand but more toxic and cheaper, and violation of pesticide application technologies - agricultural enterprises usually do not warn beekeepers that they are going to disperse hazardous chemicals. All this leads to unfavorable results that we observe today.
